Special Requirements for Road Traffic Design Sub Sector: 

1. Educational Qualification:

Recognized Washington Accords accredited degree in engineering in relevant field (Civil Engineering, Traffic /Highway Engineering, Transportation Engineering) 

2. Prerequisite course: LTA Road Geometry Course 

3. Experience as an Engineer:

Minimum 4 years of working experience in road alignment design and traffic engineering with minimally 2 years performing Critical Work Functions involving the preparation of following for authority submission: 

• Road design and traffic plans
• Cycling Path and Commuter Facilities Design
• Roadside Hazard Management

5. Application form shall include recently completed project that was submitted to government agencies. The applicant shall minimally demonstrate the following core Technical Skills and Competency:

• Road Design principles involving:
  
  • Road Design and Traffic Plans
  • Cycling path and Commuter Facilities Design
  • Roadside Hazard Management
• Codes and Requirements:
  

  Knowledge of various codes and requirements related to the design of roads and road related facilities such as:

  • Civil Design Criteria for Road and Rail Transit Systems
  • Code of Practice – Street Work Proposals Relating to Development Works
  • Materials & Workmanship Specification for Civil & Structural Works, etc.
  • Standard Details of Road Elements
  • COP for Traffic Control at work zones
